Molluscum can last up to a year and a half (!) if left untreated. Usually, it doesn’t really itch or bother the person but it does look rather unsightly.

Besides the fact that it looks unattractive, it’s very contagious. Other people can easily get the virus from you and vice versa. Also, you can spread the virus from one part of your body to another. This can negatively impact your confidence sexually and in general.

But most of the time, there’s no reason to feel helpless because there are definitely options for getting rid of molluscum contagiosum quickly and without too much heartache and money spent.

The truth is that there are a lot of doctors who try molluscum contagiosum treatment but don’t succeed. I saw 3 separate docs when I found my pimples and 1 of them misdiagnosed me while the other 2 prescribed expensive, ineffective treatments. However, many people respond well to treatments with creams and such.

In my case, the molluscum just stayed there, not changing at all. So I took matters into my own hands and …popped them! Now before you go nuts popping your molluscum contagiosum, be aware that you need to do it intelligently. It needs to be a sterile, calm procedure. You also need to be able to handle seeing yourself bleed.

For the complete guide on how to do that, see the link in this article. But for now, I’ll give you the basic rundown. The idea is to puncture the skin above the molluscum lesion and then extract the little molluscum ball (which is the virus) and let the skin heal up.

Once you remove the spherical virus part, your skin will actually heal quite rapidly and if you acted with care, probably won’t scar. Now, this procedure does get a little messier than you might expect but just be cool when you bleed and dab it off and finish the job. As long as you do this intelligently and you’re well prepared, you’ll save yourself a lot of time with this method.
